fun at the scrapyard

Yesterday and today I've been spending time at a scrap yard here in phoenix. Why would I be spending time there? Let me tell you. We are scrapping out a lot of excess wheel inventory and I'm the lucky one that gets to make all the trips back and forth from our place to the scrap yard. If you've never been to a scrap yard...good for you. There are some interesting folk there. After dropping off all of my scrap wheels I had to go inside an office to collect my money. The line was forever long and full of stinky, dirty men. Normally I do not receive smiles from random men but apparently at the scrap yard I'm something to smile at. So I'm standing there and the literal crackhead behind me is very much in my personal space. I try doing some body language get away from me moves, but he is clearly not catching on. So I start texting my Matthew so as to avoid an awkward conversation with the fine young fellow standing right on my heels when I notice him trying to read what I'm writing. I'm not OK with this. I turn around, careful not to accidentally brush my face with his. He just looked at me and gave me a big three toothed smile. Perfect ending.

chuck-e-cheese

Wednesday night the Porter's went to the chuck-e-cheese. Anyone who has ever been to the place knows that it's crazy in there. Kids running in circles, staring at the floor as they walk hoping to find that stray token or ticket, lots of crying and whining because the tokens ran out and they have to go home. It's a glorious place! After winning 242 tickets and spending $20 worth of tokens, Jacob decided that he would get 2 tootsie roll pops and these little stamp rings at the prize counter, (I was lucky to have Matt there, he's really good at making Jacob decide quickly on toys). Jacob decides the next day to stamp his whole body including his face with the chuck-e-cheese stamp rings. He's covered in stamps when I pick him up at his grandmas. He tells me that they're chuck-e-cheese pox. Luckily the stamps washed off in the bath. Fun times!

Personality

So this weekend Matt was in the Tempe Town Lake triathlon. He did great. I have no idea how a person gets the will power to not give up during those races. I do not have that in me. I think it takes a certain personality to want to accomplish things like that. I'm certainly glad that I married someone who has that. He has drive. I have neutral. He has ambition, I have contentment (not to be confused with laziness). He has stick-to-it-ness, I have "it'll be ok if you quit, it's not end of the world-ness". I think our personalities compliment each other. Sometimes it's frustrating, but I think it keeps us grounded. If we both were "go-getters" we would have major conflict, because chances are we would be going after different things and neither one of us would want to back down. If both of us were neutral people we probably would live very boring, unadventurous lives! Just my 2 cents today.

Why not?

So this is my first official blog on here...You will laugh and probably cry, most likely just shake your head.
